Spent some time today trying to put together my website. Once I get the pages done, I just have to figure how to load it to my server *lol* I'm such a dope with a lot of this and am learning by trial and error.

Due to some medicine I've been on, I've developed a small case of insomia. It's been productive in the way of plot bunnies, however annoying when it interferes with my current projects. Soooo, what do I do? I read.

One his Knees by Beth Williamson (available at Loose-Id) is an excellent book. Let's just say that it was a good thing hubby was home last night ;-) Beth did an excellent job on this story. I highly recommend it.

*sigh* now that I've tucked ALL my boys in bed, let's see if I can't get the muse going. Only one more day until Spring Break is over *thankfully*

If dissatisfied, look to change

Lazy Friday

I slept in today- the joys of kids being on spring break - however, my edits to my dragon story is done and now it's the waiting game.

I've started a Christmas story that pop in my mind. Yes, I said Christmas though it's about to be April *sigh* It's a short story, so hopefully my muse will stay focused.

Oh, and another piece of good news is that Testing Passion is being contracted!!! More news on that later.

In celebration, I spent some time reading some of the books sitting here on my computer. Let's see...I finally got to Eclipse of the Heart by Emily Veinglory(available at Loose-Id). If you like M/M shifter stories, you will enjoy this piece of work. I was fascinated by her character Mason. What a hottie, and he wasn't even the shifter *lol*

Also Seize the Hunter by Michelle M Pillow (available at Samhain). This is part of the Talons Series they have. Michelle's description of Falconia was beautiful and I absolutely fell in love with Rurik Can I have him? *lol*

And last but not least, Sierra Dafoe's newest installment to her Dragon Series. Dragon's Desire (available at Samhain). Loved it! But then, how could I not? The tale of Lara, Rand, Darrek, and now Zendar entrapped me from the first book. And what a twist at the end. Will there be more?

If you are looking for some captivating stories to read, check these out. They are worth the time.

Address misgivings before they undermine much.

Boy, this has been such an emotional day for me. First I was pissed and upset because my laptop finally completely crapped out on me last night. In fact, I almost started a fire with the adaptor *lol* It was sparking and crackling. However, I've been having small problems with it for months now. But I'd had the comfort knowing that even though I couldn't use it for net purposes, I could still use my Word (I think the keyboard is my muse. Much easier to type on then the one on my desktop *sigh*)

But not anymore. Thinking it was just the AC adaptor, I ordered one. (bye bye graphic $$ :( ) But then Windows wouldn't load correctly. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to do anything right.

Ok, I knew it was coming, so I'd backup up all the important stuff on it to a disk. However, I'd just spent three days editing my dragon story (rewriting 4 chapters) BUT I couldn't get to it!!!! I was freaking because I couldn't remember how I'd rewritten the chapters. And I was trying to get it to a CD when it went out on me on top of it all.

Well, after much pleading and near crying to it...and even hitting it a time or two *blush* My 10 yr old son comes in and turns it on. It WORKED! As slow and smooth as I could, I babied Bonded Hearts onto a disk and got it copied. Then boom...it quit again and won't for the life of it load windows again. That was after realizing that I'd forgotten to get the second chapter of my second dragon story off of it. But oh well. Beggers can't be choosers. It was only a few hundred words into it and I'm sure I'll get into it again.

So needless to say, I took my sons to the zoo afterward, bought dipping dot and cotton candy then McD's for lunch...AND a trip to Books a Million and bought each a book. What a generous mood I'm in :D I'm just glad that I was able to get the story back. But once I get my new power cord, I'm getting it looked at.

Second Chances ~ Part 6

I know this is a day late, but Spring Break started and the kids hogged the computer *sigh* Today, I'm taking then on a picinic so we can all get some sun and fresh air.

Part 6

Maria and Zack sat in a comfortable silence. His good hand was still clutched in her hand. He didn’t know what to say. Didn’t know what to think or even feel. What was next for him? Surely he would have to appear in court when the date came around. He would have to face Rob. Was he strong enough to do so?

Zack let out a long defeated sigh, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. He had no choice. If he didn’t Rob would go free. Free to harm someone else. Zack was sure Rob wouldn’t let him get away with this.

The sound of the door opening caught Zack’s attention. Thinking it was a doctor or perhaps someone from the police department, he opened his eyes and felt his blood run cold.

Zack gasped before nearly choking on his words. “No…please. Get away. Leave me alone.” He was pleading, tears rushing from his eyes. He didn’t care how he looked as fear took hold of him. He tried to get out of the bed, to flee, but the movement only made him cry out in pain and tangle in the lines that he was connected to.

“Zack, sshhh…it’s okay,” Maria tried to sooth him, but his brain wouldn’t have it. Again he tried to move, to get away from the man standing in the doorway. It was all his brain could focus on. Pain kept him from moving much. Even his fear couldn’t override the agony riddling his body.
“Don’t let him hurt me,” Zack whimpered, clinging to Maria. He didn’t know what else to do. He couldn’t run, he couldn’t fight. His only option was to depend on someone else.

“Get out!” Maria screamed at the man still standing just inside the doorway. He’d yet to move since Zack first caught sight of him.

The night flashed in Zack’s mind again. The ache of the punches. The snap of his arm filling his ears. And the pressure of the blade as it slid across his skin. The warm gush of blood as it ran from his body. He may have been nearly unconscious by that time, but he still remembered. He would always remember.

“Get the fuck out of here. Now!” Maria screamed again.

Zack’s eyes were locked with his. The same familiar gray color, yet there was something different in them. But his panicked mind couldn’t comprehend the change. All he saw was the man who’d nearly killed him.

Slowly, the man turned and left without a word. Only a glance back to show those gray eyes filled with an unidentifiable emotion. It wasn’t anger. It almost looked like misery.

“Zack.” Maria called his name and managed to cradle his face with her palms. She turned his head from the door so that he had no choice but to look at her. “Come on, sweetie. It’s me. You’re safe. There’s no one here to hurt you.” She soothed him.

Slowly, Zack fought his way out of the panic, his heart still speeding, body trembling, but his mind could think again.

“Maria,” he sighed. “That was him. You said he was in jail. But he was right there. Feet from me.” His words came out in sobs.

Maria shook her head, her thumbs caressing his cheeks, being careful of the cuts and bruises. “No, that wasn’t Rob. That was Ryan. Rob’s twin brother. He’s the one who saved your life. It was he who stopped Rob from killing you. Who got to you in time.”

“Ryan?” Zack’s brows drew together in confusion. His mind felt so hazy. Rob had mentioned once or twice a brother, but he never said that they were twins. Just that they’d had a falling out years before.

“Yes. He’s been here since you were brought in. He refused to leave until you woke and he made sure you were all right.” Maria stared into his eyes. “Ryan won’t hurt you. He’s concerned about you.”

Zack gave in and broke down. “I’m sorry. I’m just so scared.” He closed his eyes and let all the pain and pent up grief finally go. Maria let go of him, but only long enough for her to climb into the bed with him before gathering him in her arms like a mother would do with a child. Zack laid his head on her chest and cried like he had never cried before.

TGIF...

I've been really bad about blogging this week. I had to go back to the Dr on Wed for this stupid cough that I've had for nearly a month. Apparently my body never fully recouperated from the virus I had so they've got me on some really strong medicine now. Though I'm still coughing, I do feel better physically and getting a little more sleep. I go back in 2 weeks, so we'll see if this does the trick.

Also, I've been busy at my children's school helping out here and there. Today, three of us served up over 600 snow cones to the entire school and we were missing about 100 kids who were out on field trips today *whew* I'm exhausted. But it's officially Spring Break and will get to enjoy some time with them. :D

Consider Alternatives. There could be better ways.

Turbulent Tuesday

*hanging head in shame* I know, I know...I didn't get the next chapter of Second Chances up yesterday. I'm sorry. Still editing it

Well, all didn't go well with my dragon story, however, my editor at Loose-Id is wanting to look at it So, I'm doing another edit job and sending it off to her. *crosses fingers* It's a good concept (in my opinion *lol*) and I'd love to find a home for it.

Ok, off to do some promoting *sigh* Like the laundry and dishes...a never ending job

I probably won't be posting tomorrow since I'm helping to chaperone the 5th grade trip to Epcot. My hubby and I will have 6 boys in our group, 2 of them our sons so the day should be interesting because their friends are complete opposites. Wish me luck!

I'm also crossing my fingers. Should be hearing about my dragon story this weekend.

Not a total wasted day...

It's Wed and the weather is beautiful here (though I really haven't been out in it much *sigh*) but I did manage to get some work done. I've finished the edits to "Who Says Three's a Crowd?" and sent it back in. Let's keep our fingers crossed on that one.

I did some promoting for Trio earlier. Gotta get those sales going. I'm planning on another book of rewritten fairy tales (but these will be kinky ;) ) so perhaps it will get me going on it.

Then, I believe I've finally figured out Frontpage. I've got all my pages to my site built *whew* and just need to add text to it. It's a simple concept--I'm just a simple country girl ;) , soothing colors (at least to me), yet pretty (again...to me). Now...I just have to figure out why my domain name isn't transfering over to my server and then figure out how to upload it to the web. Perhaps, that's better to be left for a day next week since tomorrow is a writing day and Friday I'm off to Epcot on a field trip.

Have a great day...it's Pork Chop Wed here and having people over for...yes, you guessed it...pork chops *lol*

Second Chances ~ Part 5

Part 5

Zack groaned, his eyes fluttering open. Make that one eye fluttered open for the other was swollen shut. His entire body ached and had trouble taking deep breaths. The florescent lightening was blinding. The stench of antiseptic and sounds of beeping machines invaded his other senses. He was in a hospital. He was alive.

Unfortunately, Zack remembered most of what had happened. Once Rob slit his arm, spilling his blood, that’s where his memory grew fuzzy, then he’d blacked out.

Movement caught his attention. By his thigh was a mop of long blond hair. He’d know that hair anywhere. Maria. His rock. Confidant. Agent. His best friend.

He went to lift his left arm but found it encased in a splint, wrapped from fingertips to elbow in bandages. His right hand, he noticed, had an IV in it. Not good at all. Especially the way his ribs felt, the tight wrap pressing on them as well.

Biting back a groan of discomfort, Zack reached over and ran the fingers of his right hand through Maria’s hair. She raised her head, eyes bleary before widening.

“You’re awake.” Tears filled her eyes and he could hear relief in her voice. She sat up and her hand cupped his unbruised cheek.

“How…” Zack’s voice was harsh sounding. He tried to swallow, but found his mouth too dry causing him to cough. The action brought tears to his eyes and a groan of pain.

Maria grabbed a cup from the hospital table and filled it with water from the pitcher. She added a straw and offered it to Zack. He sipped it slowly, thankful for its coolness coating his raw throat.

“Thank you,” he managed to say after she put the cup back on the table. His voice was still scratchy and it hurt to speak, but not as bad as his body ached.

Maria reached out with her hand and brushed the hair from his forehead.

“What day is it?”

“It’s Thursday. This is your third day here.” She sat back in the chair beside the bed and took his undamaged hand in her hands. “You were hurt pretty bad. They’ve had you heavily drugged. You’ve been in and out of consciousness.”

Zack closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. The nightmares and flashes of memories threatened to invade his head. He pushed them back. Tears flooded his eyes, but he refused to let them go. He would not cry. He was alive. That’s all that mattered.

“How bad?” he asked, his eyes still closed. He didn’t want to see the pity in Maria’s eyes. He knew he was in bad shape. Even the drugs couldn’t mask the pain flowing through his tortured body.

“A black eye, of course. The doctor said you were lucky the socket wasn’t fractured. It’s already looking better.” She paused making him open his eye and look at her.

As he thought, her sympathy was very visible in the way she looked at him. He hated this. He never dreamed he’d be the victim of abuse, but here he was. He’d tried to hide what was happening. To rationalize it in his mind. To think it would get better and Rob would change. Zack had allowed his fear of Rob rule his life and now he’d almost died when he finally decided to leave.

“What else?”

Maria wiped at the tears glistening in her eyes. “Two broken ribs. One put pressure on your spleen. They thought it might have been punctured, but it was just bruised.” Her hands tightened on his. “Your left arm is broken in two places and…” her eyes strayed to his splinted arm.

“I almost bled out, didn’t I?” he question barely audible.

Maria nodded and sniffled. “The paramedics said five more minutes and you would died.”

“Shit.” Zack cursed through clenched teeth. He’d been so close to death. He was angry with himself. He should have told Rob to kiss his ass and walk out the door. He should have fought harder. He should have…That was the make up of his entire relationship with Rob.

“And Rob?” He had to ask. He remembered little after Rob had sliced his arm. Just nightmares and a familiar voice calling him back from the darkness.

Her blue eyes glittered with anger. “Sitting in a fucking jail cell where he belongs. He’s got so many charges on his ass he’ll be an old man if he gets out of jail.”

Zack nodded feeling numb by all that had happened. He didn’t know if it was the drugs they were giving him for the pain or just his psyche not yet ready to accept everything. He should feel relieved, safe. And in a strange way, he did, but not like he thought he would. But there was still a foreboding feeling floating in the back of his mind. This wasn’t over. Rob couldn't be stopped that easily. If Zack knew anything about his now ex-lover, is that he is determined. If Rob can’t have something…no one can. Including freedom.

Friday means the weekend

Good morning! Yay! It's friday, which means it's weekend time. I get to go and see both my granddaughters tomorrow and am excited. I've got to run up to the store and buy them some goodies (isn't that what grandmothers are for?) *lol*

Almost done with edits to "Who Says Three's a Crowd". I'll probably send it back in by Monday and see if they like it better.

And I just finished a book called Demon Angel by Meljean Brook (a print book by Berkley). I had never heard of her, but the cover really caught my attention (see, covers can make sales). It's a paranormal romance that has the Angel Michael and his once human Guardians, along with Lucifer and his deamons, vampires, and nosferatus. The beginning was slow for me, and it took me about 100 pages to really get into it, but once I did, it was really hard to put it down. It had a little of everything in it. Passion, romance, action, suspense. Money well spent :D

Off to be the 'snow cone lady' at the boys' school *lol* Everyone have a great day!

Is it Friday yet??

Well, not much to tell, but that my muse seems to be working pretty darn well after two weeks of struggling. I'm still not 100% over the flu I had since getting back from my cruise, but I did get out of the house some yesterday and attended two karate classes. It's got the be the exercise and fresh air (the weather is perfect here in FL...50s at night and 79-81 during the day). I've written nearly 6,000 words since yesterday (yay for me).

I'm adding to my Twins story, then also started my second Dragon Riders story. Now, to keep it going ;)

Do not be discouraged. Allow more time.

Second Chances ~ Part 4

Sorry about skipping last week. Between catching the flu the day I return from my cruise, my birthday, and company over the weekend, it just didn't work out. But I'm trying to get back on track now :)

Part 4

The cop in Ryan kicked in the moment he entered the apartment of his brother…finding him kneeling over a man, wielding a knife and blood spattered on them both. He pulled the 9mm Glock he always wore from its holster, his eyes sweeping the room, checking for other assailants.

Ryan didn’t know what was going on. Was the man on the floor an attacker? Or perhaps Rob…No, he wouldn’t think of that right now. Until he got a grasp of what was happening Ryan would do this by the book. It mattered not that it was his twin holding the knife over a bloodied body. Time honed instincts were all that matter now.

Moving closer, Ryan called out to Rob telling him to put down the knife. But it appeared as if he was in some type of trance. Not moving. Not speaking. Upon closer inspection, Ryan could see the anger and madness swirling in eyes that were identical to his own. It was a look that instigated fear in Ryan’s heart. He knew what he was dealing with now. This wasn’t the first time he’d seen this look. It was a look that instigated fear in Ryan’s heart. A look of a man pushed too far. Who had lost his control over those primal, survival urges. To eat, or be eaten.

“Drop the knife, Rob,” he repeated again when his brother had not moved a single muscle. He just stared at the growing pool of blood draining from the other man.

“Drop the fucking knife!” he screamed with force, sliding closer to Rob, his gun aimed at the head that was near identical to his. Was he going to be forced to pull the trigger? It had been years since he’d seen Rob this way. Rob had said the counseling had rid him of this. Rob was wrong.
Ryan was now right in front his twin brother, muzzle aimed for his head, finger taunt on the trigger. His entire body was rigid and straight, preparing himself for the battle he was sure to come. He didn’t dare give the body lying so still his attention or act as a distraction. He knew how dangerous Rob could be.

As expected, Rob lunged forward, knocking Ryan to the ground as the gun went spinning across the hardwood floor. An intense fight ensued, Rob fueled by anger and madness, Ryan on fear and his own sense of madness. A madness to survive and save the man that lay victim to his brother’s uncontrollable anger.

Ryan’s own cries of pain echoed around them as slice after bloodletting slice was inflicted upon his skin by the knife Rob wielded. His head was woozy, his lungs burning from the adrenaline and fear. He’d battle ten bad guys simultaneously any time instead of duking it out with his brother.

There was something inside of Rob that was unnatural. Ryan had known since they were kids. It wasn’t only the anger Rob fought to control, but violence also. Something dark, that made even his own twin brother fear him.

Ryan dipped into the last of his reserve strength and belted out a final punch. It sent Rob careening across the floor, landing unconscious.

Ryan fell to his knees. His strength depleted, but he managed to crawl toward the stilled, bloody figure. It was faint, but the man’s chest still rose and fell. The blood covered the man’s features but Ryan had a sickening feeling he knew who it was.

Pulling the cell phone from his pocket, Ryan dialed 9-1-1. His other hand clamped on the man’s arm across the slice where blood was still oozing.

“9-1-1, what is your emergency?” An anonymous voice answered.

“We need the police and an ambulance to 3418 Dowling Street.”

“Units are on the way. What is the situation?” The voice asked.

“My brother…he…he attacked someone.” Ryan covered countless crime scenes. Had seen lots worse than what lay before him, but it never got easier. He was once told, the moment it got easier to stomach, it was time to quit law enforcement. “The victim is in bad shape. There’s a deep cut on his left wrist. He’s unconscious, but I think his arm is broken too. I don’t know what other injuries he may have. There’s too much blood.”

“What about the attacker. Where is he?”

Ryan sighed giving his brother a glance. “He’s neutralized for the time.”

“Who am I talking to?” the dispatcher asked.

“Ryan Hayes.” He kept his voice calm, hiding the impatience he felt. He wasn’t sure how much longer the man would last.

“They will be there in two minutes. Please stay on the line.” The dispatcher said before she started talking to the deputy over the radio.

“Stay with me, Zack.” Ryan pleaded, looking at his brother’s lover.
